Mountain Mania

I just got back from a weekend trip to Copper Mountain; it was absolutely amazing.  I first fell in love with the Mountains two years ago, on a trip to Big Sky Montana. It was really fun to experience Copper Mountain, and Colorado (for the 2nd time this year...I am lucky).
Relaxing on the balcony, Copper behind me

Skiing in the Mountains is amazing. I absolutely love the concentration, and physicality it takes to get down the hill. When I skied in Big Sky, I stuck to Greens. I am proud to say my skiing at Copper consisted of Blues and Blacks! I love skiing so, so much. I really want to continue to improve, unfortunately I won't be able to do that in Kansas. Maybe I will have to start making annual Mountain trips...hmmm....
At the TOP!

The lifestyle of the Mountains is also wonderful. I cannot think of anything better than how we spent our days:
1. Wake up
2. Ski
3. Relax ( which consisted of movies, wine, Glee marathons, and hot tubbing...OUTSIDE surrounded by Mountains)
4. Dinner/Drinks/ Fun People
5. Go to sleep
6. Wake up-Repeat
 Off to Dinner
The Sun was INCREDIBLE, I was able to get a bit of a tan!

I was able to meet up with some of my friends from high school!

Overall, the trip to Colorado was absolutely amazing. I feel very blessed that I had the opportunity to take this trip. Today, I am back to school, work, and training. It's stressful to come back to so much after experiencing such relaxation--BUT I am happy to be busy and back to a routine in Kansas :)

RELAXING!

Greetings from SUNNY WARM Kansas!! Are you enjoying this crazy January weather? Hopefully you were able to get outside and enjoy it, because tomorrow comes the cold front!

I am currently enjoying my last week of 'break' by relaxing as much as possible. I sincerely hope next year I will not have all these long breaks because I will be working...so it's important I enjoy sleeping in while I can...I mean right? :)

Admittedly I have been working a bit over break, including a trip to Nebraska to meet some students I will be working with next semester. Although, the road trip to Nebraska is not completley exhilarating...we did stop for lunch at Pizza Hut...and had the Pizza Hut Buffet!!I cannot remember the last time I had Pizza Hut; I thoroughly enjoyed the breadsticks and cinnamon sticks at the buffet :)

This next semester is looking to be a bit more work than the last. The future is looking busy; full of weddings, teaching experience, interviews, and writing my dreaded thesis (yikes). So instead of freaking out this last week--I'm headed to Colorado to finish up my relaxation :)

In other news, I have just started training for my first race of 2012:
Get Lucky 1/2 Marathon

Feels wonderful to be training again--the great weather has helped a lot! Anyone interested in doing the race with me?! There is also a 7k--which I believe is about 4 miles!? Cannot think of a better way to start off St.Patrick's Day festivities!

Back in Kansas!

Yesterday, I arrived back in Kansas. Although, I had a minor stressful situation during my drive back (which caused me to stress eat...a Kit-Kat and bag of Kettle Chips for lunch...what is wrong with me!?), I am safely back!

I am so happy to be back in SUNNY Kansas! Today I enjoyed running in 67 degree weather...super weird, but super enjoyable!

Even though I am so happy to be back and get back to 'normal' Kansas life with the bf, it was pretty hard to leave Minnesota. I have such wonderful family and friends in Minnesota, they really made the holiday season a special one :)

bf and I on Christmas Eve
Our view during Christmas Dinner. Can you get any more Minnesotan? Maybe some snow... Loved watching the kids sprinting from their houses to get on the ice :)

New, New, NEW!

Happy New Years! Do you make New Year's resolutions? I don't really. Although every year I seem to remind myself of my 'life goals'--to be:

1. Kinder
2. Confident
3. A better friend
4. Appreciative
5. Optimistic
6. A harder worker
7. A better 'loved one'

I know SUPER corny, but at the beginning of every year I tend to remind myself that although I do not really believe in making New Year's resolutions; I do believe it is important to continue to work on being a better person.

I guess I would also like to run more races and attend church more often.

Okay done.

Good luck with whatever goals/ resolutions you have for the New Years. Although, I never feel that New Years is an earth shattering type of change; it is always nice to feel like you have a fresh start and are embarking on a new adventure :)
